Preparing for the 2011 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Theme: One in the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayer (Acts 2:42)

The 2011 worldwide observance of the 103rd Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which is co-sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches' Faith and Order Commission for the eight days from Tuesday, January 18 to Tuesday, January 25, 2011.

The Second Flagler Churches Together in Prayer and Song will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, on Belle Terre Parkway, in Palm Coast, FL. This venue has been chosen, after research and consultation, due to expectation that attendance may reach one thousand or more this time around, and thanks to the agreement to host the event by its pastor, the Rev. James May. The Music Coordinator of the event is Mr. Kermit Allison, Music Director of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Local churches will not only come together during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity to participate in the main event, Flagler Churches Together in Prayer and Song, but it is hoped that all area churches will conduct their own Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, focusing on Scriptural passages dealing with the theme of unity.

Furthermore, it is hoped that various churches will open their doors for a prayer service or Bible study in a staggered fashion on each day of that week focusing on Scriptural passages dealing with the theme of unity.

A planning committee for the 2011 Flagler Churches Together in Prayer and Song, which is made up of music directors and pastors of all Flagler county churches who want to participate, will have its first meeting during September 2010.

All love donations will go to the Flagler Cold-weather Shelter.

This event will be followed five weeks later by an interfaith gathering at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach on "Faith Communities Together in Alleviating Human Suffering in Flagler County" on Saturday, February 26, 2011. More information is forthcoming on both events.

Please contact Dr. Chau Phan, Coordinator, Flagler Churches Together in Prayer and Song, at phancity@gmail.com for further information.
